HOW TO DETECT AND AVOID ONLINE SCAMS

BIZ TIP

The internet is filled with a lots of opportunities to make money online. There are practically endless money-making online platforms for every one.

BUT!

The internet is also rigged with online criminals. For years now, the internet has experienced and is still experiencing a Cyber-War.
That means the internet has it's good guys and bad guys.
You get the picture.
Aside from money scams, we are also dealing with hacking, viruses, etc. But that's a totally different aspect.

Here, we are going to know how to detect online business scams.

There a lot of precautions we can take to avoid losing any money or information to online scammers.
Here are ways to detect them:

1. Unreasonable Earnings

Everyone knows that there are jaw-dropping money making opportunities that are real.

They also come with conditions like investing a certain amount or something.

On the other hand, fake online businesses have outrageous 'opportunities'.

Once you something like:
Earn $300 daily for free, no investment needed.

Or

Get $50 for every email you read
Earn $10 for every click.

It's obvious that they not real.
Legitimate ones come with reasonable offers.

For example, a business that pays you up to N300000 monthly for just an investment of N4000 can be true once they have reasonable conditions.

For example, it will depend on how many people you refer or how much commitment you put. It can even offer upgrades.

Sites that pay you to click adverts  and complete tasks normally pay:
$0.00001- $0.01 for just clicking ads
$0.01 - $5 per survey completed
$0.01 - $10 for completing tasks

Sites like these pay depending on the effort it will take to complete any action.
These sites still fetch really good money once you devote some time.

2. Strange Conditions To Withdraw Your Earnings.

This is one of the most glaring things about scams.
They can give you something like $100 everyday from nowhere.
Then, to withdraw your 'money', they might ask you to reach a minimum of $7000 to qualify.
You can also be asked to get a certain number of referrals like 40 which is really odd. They can also give you a very long "withdrawal processing period" like 60 - 90 days.
The one that confirms scams most is when you are asked to pay before you withdraw.

Never pay any money if you are asked to do so before withdrawal.
If there are any withdrawal charges, they are suppossed be deducted directly from the money you have earned on the platform. Also, all that is needed to receive payments are your account details i.e your account number for banks or e-wallet ID or email for online payments.

Do not give any personal information like your Card's PIN Number, BVN or Passwords of any kind.

3. Poorly Structured Websites

Sometimes with just one glance, you can already see a scam website. Most of them just rush to create the websites and hope to steal money with them.
Real sites have well structured features:
-Clear explanation of the business.
-Well arranged pages (Home, Sign In, How with works etc)
-Date of creation and copyrights ©.
NOTE: Not all real site might have copyright. Some are individual sites.
For example: crowd funding or peer to peer sites.
You should also watch out for how good or bad their grammar is.
A lot of them are foreigners that don't know English Language properly. You can see funny sentences like:
- Welcome to getting your finance freedom with internet.
- Withdraw your earn
- Get "payed" for spend 3 hours online

4. Odd Registration Process
When signing up on a website, you are asked for your:
-Name
-Email
-Phone Number
-Username and others

You can also be asked to enter Captcha.
But any website can ask that whether it's real or fake

Legitimate websites usually send a verification email or a welcoming email.
You are also supposed to be getting updates on your business in your email. Websites usually have an option for subscription to receive newsletters to your email.
Real websties also have functioning password recovery systems.

But these email features may not apply to crowd funding sites.

5. Look Them Up

On hearing an inviting business offer with very great incentives or earnings, you should do your own research on the website.

Any real business website will ALWAYS have social media platforms. For example (Facebook pages and groups, twitter handles, etc). Join them to see what people are saying about it.

There is definitely isn't any legit business site that doesn't not have a social media platform.

You should also get full information from the person that introduced you to it. You can ask about the experience the person has had.
You can also generally Google them for extra research.

With these precautions, scammers won't be having their way.
Stay Secured.
